Everyone talks about great benefits of turmeric supplements. I have decided to make a research on curcumin (turmeric) side effects as well. I must say I haven’t come across too many of them, but here are some turmeric side effects – warnings for you.
As turmeric (curcumin) has the strong choleretic action, that’s why it is not advised to use it for people who have problems with gallbladder, specially those who have cholelithiasis.
As turmeric stimulates the secretion of gastric acid and activates the pancreatic gland function, people who suffer from pancreatitis and any other diseases connected with the excessive stomach acid should avoid turmeric-contained products.
Hepatitis patients can not use turmeric (curcumin) supplements.
It is not a good idea to use turmeric (curcumin) for pregnant women in the first months of their pregnancy as it increases uterine tonus and can lead to miscarriage.
It is also not advised to combine the intake curcumin supplements with the intake of other medicines or dietary supplements without consulting your doctor.
The daily turmeric intake should be not more than 5 grams.
